Surgeries And Adult Circumcision

Adult circumcision is a surgical procedure and the procedure is performed to remove the foreskin, which is called the prepuce, from the penis. Circumcision is not considered to be a new procedure that has been found out recently. In fact, it is one of the oldest forms of procedures in some cultures.

In Egypt, through the paintings, it was discovered that circumcision could have been performed over 5,000 years ago. In the Muslim culture, it is performed as a part of a customary ritual for boys as soon as they are born. Today, circumcision is performed at large among infants in the United States because of hygiene and health reasons.

Adult circumcision is gaining popularity because of the recent medical revelations that circumcision helps in preventing many sexual diseases caused by viruses like Human Papillomavirus (HPV), and other diseases and infections. In adults, more often than not the reason for performing circumcision is due to medical reasons. When men get infections, which lie under the prepuce, it can be very painful for them and difficult to treat at the same time. That is why they rather prefer to have the foreskin removed so that they can better take care of the penis by keeping it clean and dry. Some adults also have circumcision for their own religious reasons and remove the foreskin much later in life. However, some men also believe that by removing the foreskin from the penis it could look much larger and these reasons fall under the cosmetic reasons for foreskin removal.
