Adult Circumcisions And Complications

Adult circumcision is becoming quite common and has become very frequent in the United States. Though the immediate post operative care of circumcision is discussed with the patient, the complete picture of the long term complications is seldom discussed by doctors. However, just like any other small surgery, even circumcision has its side effects and complications.

There is no medical procedure in the world that does not involve any risks or complications. One of the biggest threat or complication that is possible and faced by the patient is a hemorrhage. It is also one of the most common complications. While performing the surgery it is difficult for the doctor to decide how much skin to take off and it could be too little or too much. Assessing how much fore skin to remove can be a difficult thing to do for the doctor even if they perform circumcisions on a frequent basis.

Actually not being satisfied with the surgery has become the most common complaint in the circumcision surgeries. If the doctor takes of too little skin then the penis may not appear circumcised at all and also people having this surgery performed because of phemosis can still get it. Removing too much skin of the penis is also very dangerous as it can result in injuries and also exposure of glans. During the surgery it is impossible to determine how much skin the penis would need when it is erect. A failure in appropriate judgment by the doctor could lead to long term complications.
