However, many people will be surprised to learn that the Bible recognizes the basic principles of psychological discoveries. A quote from the Bible -- "Train up a child in a way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it." This quote can relate to Freud's theory where he lays emphasis on the importance of childhood experiences as they are responsible for personality development and maladjustments in adult life. The aforementioned quote from the Bible can also be connected to Ivan Pavlov's classical conditioning.

Today, mental conditions are treated holistically by psychologists and psychotherapists. They want to known about genetic influences, home influences and the patient's physical and emotional state. However, this holistic approach believes that the spiritual forces of Christianity do not play a constructive role. Therefore, many Christians are confused about abnormal psychology as it undermines their belief in their religion.
