Many women have abdominal scars after a C section and these take time to disappear. In some cases the scar may be permanent. Women may have an emotional problem with the scar and the general appearance of their body and so they refrain from any kinds of sexual activity for a long time. Doctors ask patients to wait for four weeks before they can have sex again after a cesarean delivery. During the four weeks time the body returns to normal and also the stitches at the incision site would have healed by then. It is safer for women to have sex after the four weeks of the surgery. If there is other kind of discomfort during the post partum period, the couple can talk to their doctor and find alternative ways to feel comfortable positions during intercourse. Women should wait until the bleeding stops completely post C section and allow nature to take its own course. Most women feel normal after the bleeding stops and they automatically adjust to their sex life. It is also normal for women to feel anxious about their marital life and sex during the recovery period.
