Early Child Language Skills Development Evaluations

Understanding language starts in a child from new born stages and even though the child cannot express in the form of words they are able to understand what their parents are trying to convey.

They start relating actions to the tone of voice in their parents and also the facial expressions. Babies learn language by reading the lip movement in the adult.

There are several approaches for a baby to languages and they also have the capability of learning more than one language at a time. How do you identify if a baby is learning the language spoken at home to start with?

The first sign that the baby is understanding language is that he or she will start responding to their name. The baby should be able to identify the voice modulation of the parent and also start responding to human voices by turning their head and looking at the person who is talking. This is an early sign that they can tell the difference between language and noise. Also, children should be able to respond to angry and pleasant tones and they can respond through their actions.

However, these kinds of cues start building up and the baby also tries to imitate the words being spoken. They soon start talking and some babies also imitate the tone of voice their parents use while talking. By the time the child reaches four years of age, he or she can talk very well and may use some words that sound like baby language. A child can talk confidently by the age of five or six and they can speak in sentences.
