Hip pain is pain in the side of the upper thigh or the side of the upper buttock. Doctors generally refer to it as pain felt in the groin, a place where the hip joint itself lies. Hip pain is not easy to analyze because it is caused by a number of different reasons. |
Pain can be felt in the hip joint itself and in the tissues surrounding the joint. The tendons around the hip can be inflamed, called tendinitis. It could also be from sources outside the body but felt in the hip, like a very soft mattress or the wrong shoes.
The wrong shoes, like those with exaggeratedly high heels, or flat heels or shoes that do not suit a person’s build and gait impose an undue strain on the hip. This, in turn, imposes a strain on the joint, inflames the tissues and gives rise to hip pain.
Fortunately, there are ways to relieve hip pain.
