Water plays a very important role in a person’s mental and physical health. However, does water make a person put on weight or does it cause the weight gain process? The fact is that drinking water cannot make you put on weight. A lot of people believe that water retention occurs due to drinking too much water. |
Actually water has several benefits for the body.
When you are hungry, for example, drink a big glass of water and then eat your meal. You will notice that you will not overeat during the meal. Water helps a great deal in breaking down fats and toning body muscle while you are exercising. Water helps in digestion and also makes the kidney expel toxins and waste from the body. If you are following a diet program that is high on protein, then the protein rich foods also gives out a lot of waste and the kidneys throw out that waste more efficiently if there is enough water circulating in the body.
However, what people should understand is that by drinking water you are not flushing out the fat. Instead, you are flushing out toxins and waste that can create fat in the body. Drinking water also increases the metabolism rate of the body and as you are on a high protein diet, you would need a higher metabolism rate in the body.
Drinking eight glasses of water everyday is healthy. However, people who are fasting should not drink excess water as it might even kill a person. Just because water is good for people, they should not overdo it.
