The ideal body fat percentage is different from person to person. There are several factors that go into determining the body fat percentage like age, body, weight, and height. Also, other external factors like food habits and lifestyle along with ethnicity are taken into consideration.
However, it is easy to tell that a person who is obese or overweight has more body fat. This could be a result of consuming more energy than the body requires and a sedentary lifestyle put together.
Men and women overall tend to store body fat differently and they are prone to cellulite in different parts of the body. Men tend to put on weight more on the abdominal area and also when they are in the fat burning mode, they tend to lose their belly first. However, there is an upper limit and a lower limit on losing body fat for men. For men of any size it is very unhealthy to have a body fat percentage that is lower than 3 percent. The minimum percentage required is 5 percent. Fat is essential for human body because it acts as an insulation and also provides cushion for the joints.
Here is a list of ideal body fat range for men. This is not a perfect ratio and the values may differ. However, also note that the height is measured on an average level and some people may be taller or shorter than average. So the values need to be altered on that basis.
20-30 years 8 - 19 percent
31-40 years 19 - 25 percent
41-50 years 11 - 22 percent
51-60 years 11 - 22 percent
61-70 years 13 - 25 percent
71-80 years 13 - 25 percent
