Eating junk food is part of the American culture and you will find both children and grow ups indulging into junk foods like candy bars, burgers, French fries, Twinkies and Doritos without blinking an eyelid.
However, the negative impact of American junk food culture is not just hurting Americans but also other cultures that emulate America.
Teenagers in countries like China and India are busy copying their American counterparts and one of them is eating junk food. Even these teenagers are affected adversely by junk food consumption and the negative impact of American junk food culture has already started showing effects among them.
Negative Impact of American Junk Food Culture:
- Junk food is laden with calories and the amount is more than the daily recommended value that children, teenagers and adults should be eating. The extra calories translate to fat and this would explain why there is a sudden surge of obesity, especially among children and teenagers.
- Over weight adults and children are less prone to physical activities making them into unhealthy couch potatoes.
- Research has shown that junk food consumption is linked to behavioral disorders. Many people, especially children, suffer from ADHD due to additives and added sugar in junk food.
- Children and teens are more prone to getting Type II diabetes due to consumption of junk food.
- Children are eating less vegetables and milk due to junk food and as a result they have near-chronic lack of vitamins and minerals.
- Due to junk food, children are more prone to getting heart-related problems as they grow older because the burgers and chips are full of fat which thicken the arteries through plaque build up.
