Beef Stew with Vegetables

Rinse the beef in running water. Heat oil in a Dutch oven, add beef, seasoned salt and chopped onions. Cook over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes, until the meat gets brown on all sides and onions become tender. Drain off excess oil. Add beef broth and hot water to the pot until the liquid is one inch above the beef. Cover and cook over low heat for 11/2 to 2 hour or until the meat is tender. Mix the flour with 1/3 cup of cold water and make a smooth paste. Add this mixture to the pot slowly to make the stew as thick as desired. Add pepper and salt for seasoning. The stew is ready. This serves 8.
Beef Stew

Brown the meat in a little peanut oil. When the meat is browning, wash and cut the vegetables. Cut the mushrooms in halves and celery and carrots into 1 ½ inch chunks. When the meat is browned, transfer it to the stew pot. Now use the same pan to brown the mushrooms. Now add the mushrooms to the beef in stew pot and add sufficient water to cover. Bring to a boil. Add carrot, celery and onions, cover and boil a little more. Then add beef base and herbs to taste. Simmer for an hour or two. Adjust seasoning and add water if needed.
