FDA Issues Warning About Contaminated Weight Loss Pills

The FDA has issued warning to people about 25 different weight loss pills which they should not purchase because they contain certain ingredients that could be harmful to anyone who consumes them.

On analyzing these weight loss pills, the FDA found that they contained active pharmaceutical ingredients like sibutramine, rimonabant, pheytoin, and phenolphthalein. Some of ingredients are controlled drugs, anti-seizure medication and carcinogens. While others are not approved for sale in the US. The levels of the ingredients far exceed the levels recommended by the FDA and could put people at risk if they consume these spurious weight loss pills.

In addition, the FDA found that these weight loss pills are being marketed as dietary supplements and can be bought either on websites or in retail stores. Some pills claim to be herbal and natural when, in fact, they contain ingredients that are harmful and these ingredients are not listed on the product label.

As these weight loss pills have not been approved by the FDA, they are deemed as illegal. Also, they cause harm to people who are naïve enough to buy them.

The list of 25 contaminated weight loss pills are as follows:

If you have bought any of the above mentioned products, you should immediately stop taking them and immediately visit your doctor.
