Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins. Amino acids enhance the body's ability to burn off stored fat by increasing the metabolism rate. |
The metabolism rate of the body is the rate at which the body is able to burn off calories, and fats. The metabolism rate is increased because it is hard for the body to digest protein as compared to fat or carbohydrates.
The body, therefore, needs to work harder to digest this protein and hence more energy is expended. Hence, more calories are burnt with protein. Moreover, the amino acids also help repair muscle tissues. When the body repairs itself, it boosts the body’s ability to increase muscle mass. An increase in the muscle mass boosts body’s metabolism rate because muscle tissues burn off more calories than any other physical element in the body.
There are a total of 22 amino acids. Of these 14 are produced in the body itself and they are called non-essential amino acids. The remaining 8 are called essential amino-acids and these have to be obtained from dietary sources like lean meats, beans, legumes, and other high protein foods. Both non-essential amino acids and essential amino acids must are required in adequate quantities and in the proper combination to maintain and build muscle and aid burning off body fat.
However, medical studies have shown that collagen protein is most effective for burning fat. Collagen protein contains a unique combination and ratio of high-nitrogen amino acids, most importantly, glycine, proline, arginine and hydroxyproline. These have been shown to influence weight loss. Collagen protein regulates body's metabolism to burn off fat. So, most of the individuals interested in weight loss add the fat burning amino acids to their diets.
