Overdose Of Insulin Given By Nurse

Insulin is naturally produced by the human body by the pancreas. The main function of insulin is to make the body use the sugar which is an important source of energy for the body. In some people who have conditions like diabetes and hypoglycemia the body does not produce insulin.

In such cases, insulin has to be injected so that the body gets it one way or the other.

However, insulin in excessive amounts is also dangerous for the body and can cause more complications.

The typical symptoms of insulin overdose are extremely low blood sugar, headaches, decreasing heart beat or increased heart rate also, excessive hunger, tremors, nausea and anxiety.  If a person with precondition like diabetes or hypoglycemia is experiencing these symptoms, then one should call 911 immediately.

How does insulin become an overdose? Because a person either has to give an insulin injection on their own or have someone to give it and the person does not bother checking his blood glucose level which is necessary before each insulin shot.

In most case it is either self or a nurse. If a person injects more insulin than needed into their body, then it could be a suicide attempt. However, if it is done by a medical professional, then it is an unpardonable mistake to risk someone’s life and one can take legal action against the person. A nurse who has been practicing in a professional organization should now better and cannot afford to make such professional mistakes. It may cost their career and also huge penalties if they do so.

Insulin and sleep medications have to be handled very carefully or a patient can lose their life within no time.
