The most common kind of overdose occurs with sleeping pills in a suicide attempt. When drugs are taken, they quickly get into the blood stream and start taking effect. Every single drug has a purpose and it is prescribed by the doctor in such a way so that only the correct amount of medicine is required to cure the ailment. When high quantities of the rug gets into the blood stream then it can play havoc with the system. Typical symptoms of overdose is vomiting or losing consciousness.
However, the treatment for overdose usually depends on how much quantity of medicine is in the blood, at what time it has been taken and the vital statistics of the person. Usually it is best to call 911 when a person has taken excessive medications. You can ask the person why they are showing symptoms like vomiting and if they confess to overdose, you should immediately call the ambulance. In the mean time you can try giving salt water. Mix six portions of salt to one portion of water and make the person drink it. This will make them vomit immediately and also the medicine will come out.
