What To Eat While Having Diarrhea ?

Diarrhea is a condition that upsets the bowels in the body and makes a person pass stools several times a day. Any condition which makes the person pass stools for more than 3 times in six hours is called diarrhea. There are several causes of diarrhea like food allergies, bacterial infection, viral infection, gastro infections and many more.

During this illness, a person becomes extremely sensitive to food and water. The bowels and the stomach actually do not tolerate any kind of intake as these parts are stressed. However, starvation while having diarrhea only worsens the problem and does not give relief. But there are several restrictions on what type of food a person should eat when they have diarrhea. They cannot eat meat, and hard to digest food for sure.

The best types of food that suit the stomach of a diarrhea patient are bananas, raisins, apple sauce, bread, and porridge. Anything watery and has a lot of glucose is good for such people. For example, tender coconut water and butter milk is an excellent source of nutrition and glucose for a person with diarrhea. Having it several times a day improves the condition of the stomach. Also, people who have diarrhea when they at something heavy and the stomach gets irritated they immediately throw up or pass stools. That is why they should eat frequently and in very little quantities. The stomach gets a chance to digest the food without having to purge or pass stools. Always avoid dry fruits and red meat when you have diarrhea.
