Traveler’s diarrhea is the worst form of diarrhea to have. Every one who is traveling likes to be comfortable. Diarrhea is the most horrible thing to have because it can create a lot of nuisance other than the suffering. For example, using the toilets frequently can be a hampering situation while traveling. |
There are several things a person can do to prevent diarrhea while traveling and also take some medications that give immediate relief.
As a precautionary measure one should always drink purified and bottled water while traveling. Never drink water out of the tap and especially on international travel. Never assume that the water is purified by the municipality boards. Also, one should always avoid eating from road side stalls that sell hot dogs and other food. One reason is that it may not be very hygienic and another reason is that the food may be old or stale and lead to food poisoning causing diarrhea.
When it comes to treating diarrhea the most common drug used in the United States is Pepto Bizmol. If it s a bacterial infection that has caused diarrhea, then you may need antibiotics to fight the infection. If getting local medical help is not possible, then it is always wise to carry a prescription and medications of diarrhea with you. There are medications available off the shelf also and this may reduce the symptoms of diarrhea in a couple of hours after you take it. However, antibiotics are not sold off the shelf and it is better to discuss it with your physician.
