There are several health risks of sleep disorders in people and most of them are not normal. One of the most common kinds of sleep disorder is sleep apnea. It has been often found that people who suffer from this disorder are usually obese and have other health risks like diabetes and heart problems. |
Many people who have sleep disorders are at an increased risk of cardiovascular problems. Sleep apnea and insomnia are two of the most common sleep disorders and they both can cause similar and also different set of risks in people.
Sleep apnea can cause obesity and lead to diabetes eventually in people. It is a condition that causes the person to pause breathing for a while and as a result of which the person starts snoring. People also suffer from early morning muscle weakness and fatigue due to the lack of oxygen, impaired blood flow and troubled sleep patterns. It increases heart risks and can become the primary cause for a heart attack. It also exposes the person to other heart problems and brain related damages.
Insomnia is another kind of sleeping disorder where a person is at a higher risk of depression, suicidal instincts and heart related disorders. Several people who suffer from insomnia can lose their concentration power, suffer from memory lapses and can eventually get diagnosed with some chronic neurological disorders like mania. The brain cells get severely damaged due to the lack of sleep in such people.
Other than that, sleep disorders may cause addiction to alcohol or sleeping drugs.
