If the warts are small enough, they can be burned off using medicated solutions or creams. Generally, they are treated with a solution of podophyllin, or imiquimod cream. This treatment is continued until the warts disappear.
Another medication used to treat genital warts is interferon alpha. This is a compound that helps to stimulate the body's immune system. The doctors inject interferon alpha into the wart every alternate day for a period of 8 to 12 weeks.
