Severe sunburns can occur after prolonged unprotected exposure to direct sunlight. This is extremely painful, and often requires hospitalization for proper treatment. Anti-inflammatory drug like Ibrufen of the dosage 200-400gms every four to six hours can help in reducing the redness, swelling and pain. One must start drinking lot of fluids to keep the body stable, and prevent any further dehydration.

Taking a tea baths is a natural and effective way to take away the stinging pain, and provide fast relief to the affected area. One can make this bath the same way tea is prepared. Instead of using one tea, use around 10. Soak the bags in the bath water and then relax in the water. Similarly, milk bath also brings relief. Another easy and effective home remedy is to rub a tomato on the wound for fast relief. Wearing loose fitting clothes, which provide good air circulation, help in faster healing.
