Impetigo is a common skin disorder found in children. Impetigo causes blisters and sores in different parts of the body. It is a bacterial infection which is highly contagious in nature. There are two different kinds of impetigo, namely bullous impetigo and non-bullous impetigo. |
Non-bullous impetigo is the most common form of impetigo that occurs on the face, lips and ears. This kind is the one with the less persistent pustules. This form of impetigo is easy to treat, and is less irritable compared to the bullous impetigo.
The blisters that occur on the back, chest and abdominal parts of the body are bullous kind of impetigo. Bullous impetigo is larger in size, and the fluid filled blisters are hard to burst. These blisters cause more irritation and pain. The discomforts of this larger variety of fluid filled blisters make it harder for the children to resist the urge to touch the sores. This can lead to the spread of this contagious disease very easily. The bullous impetigo is the most severe kind of impetigo which quite commonly occurs on the back of the body. These blisters take longer time to treat than non-bullous impetigo.
Though it is hard to resist the urge to itch the bullous impetigo blisters, it is quite important not to scratch the blisters. Children should be stopped from itching themselves to prevent further spread of the infection. There are treatments and remedial measures to cure impetigo and if controlled in the right way it can be easily terminated without much problem.
