Can Cold Sores Be A Sign Of Pregnancy ?

A number of pregnant women suffer from cold sores. This is just one of the many discomforts during pregnancy. There are many physical discomforts during these long 9 months, and cold sores happen to be one of them.

 

During pregnancy a woman’s body undergoes a lot of changes. Fluctuating hormonal levels and other associated factors tend to make her immune system more vulnerable and weak. Along with the other fluctuating changes, there is also a dip in the level of blood sugar. So, with a weak immune system, the body becomes very easily susceptible to pesky illnesses like cold sores. Though cold sores are not always limited to a pregnant body, it is particularly common during pregnancy.

With a weak immune system, a pregnant body is not always able to fight off viruses like herpes simplex virus, which causes cold sores. It is a common discomfort during pregnancy and occurs in most pregnant women. In fact, it is best said that a pregnant woman is pretty vulnerable to herpes simplex virus. The weak immune system exposes the pregnant woman to all kinds of viruses, and a pregnant woman is often seen to suffer from cold sores.

It would be wrong to assume that cold sores are a sign of pregnancy, as these sores can occur in anyone with a weak immune system. In addition, not all pregnant women suffer from cold sores.

There are number of other ways an immune system can get weak leading to an outbreak of cold sores. For the same reason, many pregnant women with a weak immune system gets infected from cold sores. In conclusion, it can be said that cold sores are one of the many discomforts in pregnancy but not a positive sign of being pregnant.
