Symptoms Of Manic Depressive Personality

A manic depressive personality is that of a person suffering with bipolar disorder. The symptoms of manic depressive personality are same as the person with bipolar disorders.

 

Most people with bipolar and manic depression have suffered with low energy levels and depression when they are faced with loss, grief or disappointments in life.

Manic depression is also called major depression in psychiatric terms. There are some obvious symptoms for a person using which you can tell that the person is going through manic depression.

A person suffering from manic depression is often found to be in a depressed mood. They show no interest in several day to day activities. They either lose a lot of weight or gain a lot of weight. This is accompanies by severe loss of appetite or gain in appetite. They also go through sleepless nights which are also called insomnia. This symptom has also been countered with increased sleep or hyposomnia. They are usually agitated and show retardation while decision making. They express fatigue and are tired. This indicates a severe loss of energy. They find decision making a very difficult process because they cannot concentrate and show it through their indecisiveness. People with manic depression also have constant thoughts of death or suicide. Some may even attempt suicide during a manic depression episode.

Such people should immediately take help from a proper counselor and find alternative means to cope with their depression. People who do not get any medical help go through more severe problems as the disorder advances.
