Being Autistic And Dealing With Death

The death of someone dear is very stressful for a normal person and it is all the more difficult for an autistic person. It could be the most traumatic event in their entire lives and it is very difficult to guide an autistic person through such phases in life.

For a normal person counseling can bring them out of the situation as they can reason the causes like any other normal person would do. However, for an autistic person it is very difficult to reason and behave logically in such circumstances. They just suffer the loss and do not see the causes.

People suffering from autism do not know that they are autistic and that there is a mental problem with them. In order to make them understand, proper counseling should be given and a lot of support and love can help them recover from the pain and grief they experiencing after losing a loved one. This can be done only by close family members. For an autistic child, it is noticed that in most children their mother is the closest person and they behave the worst with their mothers and also love their mother the most. And if the deceased person is the primarily care giver, the death of the person would leave the autistic person shattered.

Autism is a condition which is still under the research phase and the reasons and causes are still being found out. More than counseling and help on an emotional level nothing more can be offered to the people suffering from autism at this point of time. But the fact remains that an autistic person does feel emotional pain and loss. He is just not able to express it or show it.
