Autism Symptoms Checklist

There are several common symptoms of autism that can be noticed early in childhood actually. There are mild and severe symptoms of autism which shows up in childhood itself. The most common mild symptoms that are noticed in a child are:

 

When these symptoms are noticed in the extreme form and the most common of them is a problem with social interaction of the child then it can be called autism. Children with autism do not respond to when their names are called and they also never make eye contact with the person who is talking to them. They have difficulty interacting with children of their same age or other children and also they talk in a rhythmic way.

It is also noticed in many children with autism that they do not like to be hugged or kissed. In addition, they also tend to have less sensitivity to pain. However, they react more strongly to sense of smell, sound or touch.

Many children who have autism also suffer with a co existing conditions like tumors in the brain, mental retardation, attention deficit disorder and learning disability. Also some children with autism develop the problem of epilepsy in their adulthood. There are no confirmed reasons for any of these and the research is still going on. The reasons for autism has also not been found and it is generally believed to be genetic or due to environmental conditions.
