The media is lot to blame for driving people to be anorexic and the people who fall prey to it are the women. Women eating disorders and mass media influence are directly connected. |
How does the media come into the picture? Look at any advertisement on the television and you will find skinny models advertising cosmetics, clothes, perfumes and even home appliances.
The media, which is the center of attraction in several homes, worship these thin people glorify them and make them important. Naturally a woman who sees thin people adorning themselves is led to believe that she has to be thin too to be able to use the products.
Fat people only find places as irrelevant characters or comedians in the media. In real life no body wants to be a comedian and everyone likes to be hero worshipped. However people should understand that media can actually manipulate images and make the models look thinner if they want them to. None of us know these people who are being shown in real life actually. So no one knows how these people look in real life and how thin they actually are.
Do not judge the book by the cover is something that turns true with media advertising. Half the things are faked using special effects however it is still wrong on their part to glorify an ideal figure because it does not exist anywhere else. If it does then it takes the form of sickness like anorexia and eating disorders. People believe what they see on paper ads and televisions and therefore, it is the responsibility of the media to be sensitive to the viewers.
