Eating disorders are most commonly found in college students. For every college student their academics at the college level are the most important and it is crucial for their career plans.

 

However, several college students due to peer pressure develop irregular eating habits and some lead themselves to severe problems like anorexia.

The media is also to blame to a large extent as they are constantly showing and glorifying weight loss that it begins to rule people’s minds. College students are also prone to bad habits such as drugs and smoking which leads to irregular eating habits. A college student is independent for the first time and they want more acceptances into their society as an individual. This causes them to develop the desire to be popular and they go to any lengths for being popular too. All these actors which rule their mind makes them lose focus on the real thing which is their academics eventually.

This analysis has found to suit most college kids who are either anorexic or weak that they cannot concentrate ion their life anymore. Lot of counselors tries to convey that independence comes with a lot of responsibilities and one has to be capable of handling these responsibilities. College kids usually relate independence to freedom and they make several wrong decisions with this thinking. The hype about weight loss and being thin also plays a large role for them because some how start to think that looking good means staying thin. The size zero factor plays a larger than life role in every college girl’s mind and if she is not that, then she gets into other problems like depression.
