There is lot of talk about H1N1 being transmitted by pigs and that it is a new strain of virus, which has strains of pig and birds and humans. But there is also one view that the H1N1 virus is manmade. So, the question arises was H1N1 a manmade virus. |
What is a man made virus? When virus is collected for vaccine production, there could have been a mistake which has led to the birth of this virus. The H1N1 virus might have been created from the eggs that the scientists store in labs to grow viruses, which are then used in making vaccines. These are the views of Adam Gibbs who is well versed in germ evolution and who has more than 40 years experience in this area. According him this virus has been created on account of laboratory escape. But there is no conclusive evidence to this theory. On the contrary the scientist community is not even ready to consider this as a possible cause. They feel that this particular strain on flu has not been seen in the US or for that matter anywhere in the world, so this could not be manmade, but is definitely a new strain of influenza. But the World Health Organization is investigating into the causes of this virus and also probing whether what Adam Gibbs has to say is true or not.
While there have been instances of governments culling the pigs in their country, it may be a very sad thing to know that this virus may actually have been created on account of human error.
