Truth About A H1N1

Considering how the H1N1 virus has made its way all over the globe from Mexico, it is important for people to more about this virus. There are some facts and truth about H1N1 virus which may not be known by many people.

Firstly, swine flu or H1N1 and avian flu are two different types of flu. While swine flu has strains of pig, human and birds, it is not the same as avian flu. In case of avian flu, more than 50 percent of the patients have been fatally infected. In contrast to that most of the people who have been affected by swine flu have survived.

As the virus spreads from one person to another, it becomes weaker and hence may not be that effective. This means that over a period of time, the current swine flu virus may just be the same as the common flu virus, which may not be very alarming.

Since this new form of flu, swine flu is different from the other forms of virus. There is no vaccine that is developed for this condition and since this virus gets transmitted from one person to another, there is a threat of an epidemic.

Since the name of the flu is swine flu, there is a tendency to believe that eating pork may be dangerous and may lead to this flu. However, this is not true. This virus is spread from person to person and not through foodstuff. Sometimes, it is also believed that eating vitamins might help develop immunity to the flu, which is untrue. Since this is a new type of virus, humans have less immunity to it and eating vitamins is not going to help the cause.

One most important truth about H1N1 is that though there are no vaccines for it yet, it is still less dangerous than avian flu.
