As the name suggests, swine flu is one type of flu and it gets transmitted through sneezing, coughing and direct contact. Though swine flu is just like any other flu, the troublesome part about this flu is that it can be transmitted very easily from humans to pigs and birds and vice versa. |
Whereas the other types of flu can usually only transmit within one particular species. Also, the other bad news about this flu is that unlike the seasonal flu, which is said affect the older people or young children or people with less immunity, this flu is known to affect even the healthy people.
There is no evidence to suggest that swine flu can be transmitted by eating pork products. This virus gets transmitted from pigs to humans and vice versa and this happens when humans are in close contact with infected pigs. As for human to human transmission, it can be transmitted through coughing, sneezing, kissing or by touching areas which are infected by the virus of swine flu. In spite of providing all this information, the World Health Organization (WHO) believes that there may be other facts that are still unknown with regards to the transmission of swine flu. However, WHO advises people not to travel to the areas affected by swine flu and also to keep the infected pigs in an isolated area and the same applies to humans as well. Those who exhibit symptoms of swine flu are advised to stay away from work, or public transportation to reduce the incidence of transmitting the flu to others.
