What Is The Scientific Name Of Juvenile Diabetes ?

Juvenile diabetes is not a very common condition and approximately 10 percent of the kids suffer from it in the United States. It is an auto immune disorder caused by external factors mostly. It is also referred to as insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus or IDDM; in medical terminology.

The onset of juvenile diabetes in children is found at the age of two or three. The symptoms of this type of diabetes are constant hunger, fatigue, lack of energy and low or high blood sugar levels. Such children may also be tested for the levels of insulin in the body to determine whether it is insulin dependant diabetes.

For insulin dependant diabetes, the only cure is to inject artificially created insulin to combat the absence of it. Insulin is requiring by the body to break down the sugar and convert the glucose into energy. This is a natural process that is done by the body through out the day. The body requires energy on a constant business to do various activities in our day to day life. A child who is being treated for this kind of diabetes has to be constantly monitored for blood sugar levels in periodic intervals and proper care has to be taken in the form of a diet program.
