Who Invented Insulin ?

Insulin is produced by the human body using an organ called the pancreas. Insulin was discovered by two medical students in Toronto, Dr. Fredrick Banting and Charles Best. There were more people involved too like Professor J. J. R. Macleod and Dr. James Collip. It was discovered through a vigorous lab process.

Today, there are several resources available to see the lab experiments and the process of how it was discovered. Though insulin was discovered several uses for it were found it much later than its discovery.

The applications for insulin today are much useful and even crucial in the treatment for some diseases. For example, it plays the most important role in the treatment of diabetes and hypoglycemia. People, who suffer from hypoglycemia, often are diagnosed with diabetes too. One condition maybe the cause for the other and it is very rare that patients are diagnosed only with hypoglycemia. The condition in such people is caused mainly due to the lack or an overproduction of insulin. The condition is also treated by using insulin and induced through injections.

Insulin is a much needed ingredient for the body in order to regulate the glucose levels in the blood stream. When abnormal levels of glucose are found in the blood stream it can cause hyperglycemic attacks in the person. By injecting insulin in such a person’s body it helps the blood stream to dissolve the glucose. Insulin is not produced in moderation in the body when there is a problem with the pancreas.
