Any medication beyond a certain point becomes lethal and cause death in a person including insulin. Excess amounts of insulin the body can cause hypoglycemic attacks in a severe form causing death in a person. When insulin in the synthetic form is used in excess it can have detrimental effects on a person’s health and sometime can be fatal. |
Excess insulin can cause several dangers like coma, seizure and brain damage. Excess insulin creates a condition called insulin shock. Insulin shock shows different symptoms in different people. There are two types of diabetes -- type 1 and type 2 -- and for both the types when there has been an overdose of insulin the symptoms are different.
People with hypoglycemia may find that they are extremely tired if there has been an overdose. It is similar to having a hypoglycemic attack for them. For people with hyperglycemia, it is noticed that they have a reddened face. In both the cases they might feel very hungry after excess insulin in their body and also that the heart rate is fast. All these conditions in any case warrant immediate medical attention.
Some people may also vomit as a result and go into a shock. People who faint or stay in a shocked state should be rushed to the hospital immediately. If a person is left in the same condition for a long time, the chances are high that they can slip into a coma. Coma can be a dangerous state for anyone and it is highly life threatening. Insulin should always be prescribed by a medical professional only.
