People who have diabetes and hypoglycemia should never fast. If they do, it can become a life threatening situation for them. A regular and a healthy diet along with regular exercise can cure the condition. However, if people have irregular food habits and a poor lifestyle, then the condition could worsen in them. |
People who have hypoglycemia have low levels of glucose in their body and that is why the condition occurs. Glucose is an essential substance required by the body constantly to function. It supplies the necessary energy for the organs in the body so that they function normally. When a person with condition fasts their body is deprives of glucose which means it is facing a shortage of energy supply to put it in layman terms.
During this shortage being faced by the body all the parts in the body are likely to get affected simultaneously. When a person skips his or her meals the symptoms may not occur immediately but may start developing a couple of hours later when they miss their meals. Doctors always advice such patients to have smaller and frequent meals instead of having one large meal at a time. This also helps them to manage their weight efficiently. The body needs for people with hypoglycemia is different and they tend to use up the glucose faster than the others. The body is incapable of storing glucose and that is why there should be a constant supply of it. As an emergency measure it is good to carry hard candies like éclairs and caramel chocolates in times of need.
