Type 2 diabetes is generally hereditary. It also occurs in certain ethnic groups like the Hispanic, Asian, Pacific Island, African-American or Native American. Their risk is much greater than others.
Although a simple blood glucose test determines whether one is diabetic or not, it may not be easily detectable at first since many of the symptoms are common to other ailments. It may go unheeded for a long time. Late prognosis can result in complications.
