Environmental Factors: Scientists suggest that cause of outbreak of rheumatoid arthritis could be environmental factors wherein a person can get the disease due to viral or bacterial infection. Genetic Factors: According to scientific research, certain genes present in a person tend to play an important role in autoimmune disorders and the people having these genes are more susceptible to the disease. However, it is not necessary that a person having the genes will develop the disease and vice versa. What scientists agree on is that more than one gene is responsible for a person getting rheumatoid arthritis and severity of the disease.
Hormonal Factors: Hormones play a big role in a person getting rheumatoid arthritis. Women are more susceptible to the disease than men and the disease might get aggravated when the woman is pregnant or breastfeeding. In addition, it has been seen that when a woman takes contraceptives, it might change the likelihood of her developing the disease.
