Ultrasound tests use high frequency sound waves to take pictures of parts of the body. For this test, a small microphone-like device called a transducer (an electrical device that converts one form of energy into other) is put on the vagina. It emits sound waves of higher frequency and picks up the echoes as they bounce off the vagina.
