Herpes zoster is also known as shingles. Usually people who have had chicken pox as children are at a risk of contracting herpes zoster. The same virus that causes chicken pox also causes herpes zoster and it is considered to be a re-infection of the varicella zoster virus. |

Therefore, if you have had chicken pox and are now undergoing chemotherapy, it is advisable to check with your doctor the various methods of keeping your immune system strong. This will decrease the chances of you contracting herpes zoster. One of the best ways to improve your immune system during chemotherapy is to take nutritional supplements.
