Hemorrhagic Stroke Recurrences

Strokes are one of the most common reasons for people to die in the United States. Most of the strokes that occur cause serious damages to the physical body. Hemorrhagic stroke is not as common as the other type, the ischemic stroke. On a comparative note, only 20 percent of the total people who suffer from stroke suffer a hemorrhagic one. Ischemic is by far more common.

However, the damages caused by the hemorrhagic stroke are also much higher. Most of times it is fatal if medical help is delayed. Nonetheless, once the stroke subsides people do hold higher chances of recovery after the stroke.

A common research shows that people who have suffered a hemorrhagic stroke once are likely to suffer from it again. The simple reason is that they are prone to suffer from it. There are several reasons for hemorrhagic strokes to occur like habits, some conditions like diabetes and diseases like cancer. As long as the habits and conditions exist, the stroke will also recur. Every hemorrhagic stroke is treated differently and even when it recurs the kind of damages it may present is different.

The risk is of hemorrhagic stroke in patients who have already suffered from it once is rated at about 14 percent in the first year and about 5 percent the following years. Some of the factors that promote the early recurrence are:

Old age
Causes for blocked arteries
Prior hemorrhagic stroke
Conditions like diabetes
Alcohol
Heart disease
Atrial fibrillation
