Gay Safe Sex Tips
With the recent advancements in the field of medicine, several people are starting to believe that practicing safe sex is no longer required for preventing sexually transmitted diseases like HIV/AIDS.

Over the years, there has been a phenomenal increase in the number of gay men and lesbian women getting married or engaging in a relationship without using any safe sex methods, a practice known as barebacking. The primary for an alarming rise in the number of persons acquiring HIV/AIDS during the recent years has been attributed to unsafe sex practices among gays and lesbians.

Listed below are some gay safe sex tips for such people.

  1. Always use a condom: Oral and anal intercourse is more common with gays. Anal intercourse using unsafe sex practices is extremely risk. Anus is a highly sensitive and fragile region in the body that can get easily ruptured during an intercourse. Infectious organisms can enter the body through these injuries. Hence, it is always better to use a lubricated condom while performing an oral or anal intercourse. One should make sure that the condom is in proper condition and has not expired.
  2. Oral sex results in transmission of pathogens such as HPV and Herpes. Sores or bleeding gums increase the risk of spreading HIV. It is important to keep the mouth and gums in good condition before performing oral sex. One can use a dental dam or a saran wrap in these conditions. In case of a gay partner, it is wise to perform oral sex when a condom is present on the penis.

Use latex or polyurethane gloves for hand/genital contact.
