Religious Beliefs Regarding Hpv Vaccine
According to science, the objective of every scientific invention or development is to improve the lives of people in the society. Every year, millions of patients get infected with different types of dreaded pathogenic microorganisms such as HIV, Ebola, Mycobacterium, and HPV.

More than 500,000 new cases of HPV are being reported every year and almost 250,000 patients succumb to the infection. Scientists have struggled for years towards finding effective medicinal solutions that can be used as a therapy for saving these lives. In this pursuit, billions of dollars are spent every year towards development of better drugs and effective vaccines that can help in eradicating harmful pathogen and improve quality of life.

However, religious extremists tend to have an exactly contrasting opinion regarding the efforts of scientists towards development of vaccines against sexually transmitted infections such as HPV. According to them, every society has certain moral principles and social values. It is the responsibility of each individual to abide by these values and principles. Any deviation from these values is considered to be a sin. One such sin is to have immoral sexual activity. Sexually transmitted diseases occur in people who commit such sins. Religious extremists believe that these types of diseases have been created by the GOD himself to punish sinners who commit sexual sin. According to religious activists, improved vaccines can facilitate people to escape the consequences of sexual sin.

Vaccines are effective only when they are administered to people before they contract any infection. This is also true in case of HPV vaccines. HPV infection is most common in women who are sexually active and are between the age group of 16-25. HPV vaccines have to be administered to girls before they become sexually active. Religious activists fear that this process might provide girls a license to get involved in premarital sex.

The best means of preventing any sexually transmitted disease is to abstain from having sex or avoid any skin contact by practicing safe sex methods such as use of condoms.
