Early Syptoms Of Hiv
HIV, which stands for ‘human immunodeficiency virus’ is the causative organism that is responsible for causing AIDS in a person of any age group. AIDS actually develops about 5 to 10 years after contracting an HIV infection.

Although there are a few early symptoms of HIV infection (which give rise to certain flu-like symptoms in an HIV infected person), the rest of the period, until the later symptoms of HIV develop, is usually asymptomatic (showing no symptoms of AIDS). However, it is during this asymptomatic phase that the human immunodeficiency virus multiplies rapidly and begins to infect the T-cells of the immune system and kills them, and it is during this early phase that the infection from an HIV infected individuals is highly transmittable. This early phase of infection and set of early symptom is termed as primary HIV infection. It is also known as acute retroviral syndrome in medical jargon.

The early symptoms usually become visible just after two to four weeks after getting infected with HIV. These symptoms persist for just one to two months after contracting the infection. The early symptoms of HIV include fever, constant headache, sore throat, loss of appetite, rash on the body (small flat or raised lesions that develop all over the body), muscle ache and joint pains, ulcers (which develop in the oral cavity, or even on the genital areas) and swollen lymph glands. These symptoms begin to intensify as the immune system starts to weaken. However, majority of the HIV infected persons who experience these early symptoms will not usually sense them until a few years later.
