A condom is a device commonly used during sexual intercourse. It is used on a man’s erect penis. Condoms block ejaculated semen from entering the body of a sexual partner and are thus used to prevent pregnancy and transmission of sexually transmitted diseases. |
The first thing about using a condom is to learn how to put it on properly. If not, the risk of the condom tearing or experiencing leakage is higher.
If you are unfamiliar with how to put on a condom, it is always safer to practice putting it on before the heat of the moment. Often, when about ready to have sex, one is likely to do something wrong in the process of putting on a condom. It is also advisable to stick with the same brand of condom when engaging in sexual activity.
The most important thing is to take care while opening up the package. Do not use scissors or your teeth to open it. The condom could very easily tear by accident. Once the condom is removed from the wrapping, do not unroll it -- it will be very difficult to put on after that and very likely to tear or rip.
Place the condom on the tip of the erect penis and then unroll it down the shaft. If you have difficulty unrolling it, check that it has not been placed the wrong way. It is safest to throw the condom away and use a new one. If the condom has a reservoir tip, the tip should he held flat while the body of the condom is unrolled. The reservoir tip must remain limp while in use. If the condom does not have a reservoir tip, you will need to leave a little bit of space at the tip of the condom so that the semen can be collected safely.
