Acupuncture And History

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese art of healing. It dates back to more than 5,000 years to an age when the Taoist tradition is dated. The people in this tradition meditated and concentrated on the flow of energies in the body.

However, experts believe that acupuncture was not only practiced in China but even in other countries like India and Egypt. All these countries have one thing in common and that is ancient traditions.

In the age where medicine was not advanced people had to find alternative ways to find cure for diseases and other conditions. They studied the human body in depth and understood how it worked. People who followed acupuncture believed that by rectifying the cause of the pain, relief can be provided. Due to the lack of modern medicines people had to find other ways of treatment like acupuncture. However, in spite of being an age old practice the acupuncture techniques work even today with the same efficiency.

When acupuncture was practiced in the ancient times people first used sharp stones and bamboo to perform the acupuncture. However, as time passed by people, found more innovative ways like using bones of animals like fish, and also needles made out of metal. Slowly they also learnt to sterilize these needles and bones by using hot water to perform acupuncture. In Brazil, in the ancient times people used sharp arrows to shoot at the diseased part in the body. In different parts of the world wherever it was practiced acupuncture had its own name and even the techniques differed. However, today the whole world identifies with it as acupuncture.
