Do not believe when people say that you cannot recover from sexual abuse. You can and you will end up living a normal, healthy and satisfying life. Of course you may scars and emotional memories but you will heal with proper help and assistance. It is normal to have scars and emotional memories but you will heal, even if you do not believe it at the moment.

Do not listen to people who say that you have to keep revisiting the pain in order to heal without any problems. This may be true in the beginning when it comes to severe trauma but does not apply years later. You will not gain anything by constantly experiencing the pain and reopening the wound. You cannot heal yourself from emotional wounds and pain by constantly going back to the sexual abuse.

When it comes to sexual abuse recovery, you have to learn to face the facts and deal with it. It is only when you face the abuse, you can heal. You do not have to be in constant pain and wonder why it happened to you. And you do not have to confront the abuser in order to heal. Of course, the facing of the facts will not be easy. It may take a few weeks, months or years. You can also seek professional counseling to help you accept the fact. Once you accept that the abuse was not your fault, you will begin to heal and be ready to move on with your life.

Remember psychotherapeutic treatment will help you deal with the sexual abuse and put you on your way to recovery. This is a problem that needs professional help and you should not be ashamed of asking for it and taking it.
