Contributing Factors Of Sibling Sexual Abuse

What is sibling sexual abuse? The people, who acknowledge the presence of sibling sexual abuse without denying it, would answer it. This includes forced sexual intercourse between siblings.

It usually also involves a lot of touching, forcing to watch sexual content, watching various stages of dress and undress and also forcing some other child/children or teen to behave sexually with their sibling.

Unfortunately, most people, including parents, are usually in a denial to the very existence of sibling sexual abuse that eventually leads to its continuance and presence.

A child showing curiosity at a small age, especially in the presence of a sibling of the opposite sex, is normal. What is not normal, is the continued presence of this curiosity even after it has been tried to be satiated, and also the extension of this curiosity into prolonged touching, especially at an older age.

The reasons for sibling sexual abuse are quite many, and it is usually a mixture of two-three reasons that leads to such behaviour. When a child has witnessed sexual intercourse and many times sexual abuse between their parents, or when it has an open reach to pornographic content, with a lack of sex education, it can lead to curiosity to experience the same and try it. Also, when the older sibling is given the responsibility of their younger brother or sister, without being kept under check and no limits drawn, it can lead to them misusing their responsibility and threatening their younger sibling into submission. Even neglect and limited socialization can add to frustration of the child and resorting to sibling abuse.
